TAHSA Celebrates 20 Years of Art Is Ageless!
2010 entries are currently being judged. Check back soon for a list of this year's finalists!
What is TAHSA's Art Is Ageless Contest & Exhibit?
This contest showcases the artistic talents of older Texans from retirement communities across the state. We hold an annual exhibit taking place in May in conjunction with Older Americans Month and the TAHSA Annual Meeting. TAHSA currently receives over 200 entries every year that are judged by experts in the field such as university professors, artists, authors, etc. The judges are always impressed with the quality of work submitted and the expression displayed through various medias. We at TAHSA believe that this project is one of the most positive tools we can utilize to highlight the positives of the aging process. It educates the public on the value of the creativity that can come with living long, healthy lives.
The contest and exhibit demonstrate that whether one continues a lifelong hobby or pursues a new hobby late in life, "Art Is Ageless."
Who Can Participate?
Current residents of TAHSA member homes can participate. The submitted artwork must have been completed when the resident was at least 65 years old or living in a TAHSA home.
Why Should Your Community Participate?
- Resident participation improves self-esteem and encourages creativity.
- The Art Is Ageless contest is a great excuse to stage your own community art contest & exhibit. Place winners from your contest can then submit their artwork to TAHSA's Art Is Ageless. Or, submit them all!
- Winning pieces will be displayed in Houston at TAHSA's Annual Meeting & Trade Show, May 15-18, 2010 at the Houston Westin Galleria.
- All participants are invited to attend an Awards Ceremony & Reception at no cost on May 15, 2010 at the Houston Westin Galleria. This is an excellent field trip for residents and a chance for them to meet new people, be recognized and have a good time.
- Everyone is a winner! Participation is free, and all will receive a certificate of participation.
- Place winners will receive TAHSA's exclusive lapel pin and a certificate, first place winners will receive plaques, and the Best of Show winner will receive a special award. These will all be presented at the Awards Ceremony.
